WW2 pillbox at Appledore Kent  at a road crossing and  bend in the Napoleonic Royal Military Canal a defensive canal that had a new life as defensive line in WW2. This example is a  type 22 pillbox is a regular hexagon in plan with an gun slots in each side apart from the rear entrance door.
