Fort Monckton is a historic military fort at the Eastern end of Stokes Bay Gosport Hampshire originally built to protect Portsmouth harbour at the start of the American War of Independence. It was rebuilt in the 1880s a part of the Lord Palmerston’s ring of forts around Portsmouth. Almost abandoned during WW2 the fort remained in the ownership of the Ministry of Defence.
